Add in another color, probably. And a different array of brushes.

Also use more brushes, that looks like the same one used 8 times.

Valkyra - Much better
although it was pretty dam good to start off with in the first place. Theres a masking tut in my sig - That'll tell you everything you need to know.
Keep working on that background Deathwing and deema, you could even get away with that background as it is (depending on what else you put it) or you could use another very large semi-transparent render (face/eyes seem to work well for that), or yes, the obvious answer is more brushes.

Thanks Silk. I have now read the masking tut, even though I don't have photoshop, I'll just have to find out how to do it on Jasc. At least I'll know what I'm doing now, and what it is. So thanks, again.
P.S: You spelt my name wrong but I'll let you off this time.

deema, try using different layer styles or something.

No.1 - the font. Completely outtaplace. No.2 the color - tad on the radio active side. Check my sig tut for a way to do TWO colors even (optional), but don't overdo it.

I was planning on just telling you, but I had a thought: If I just tell you what they are I would need a really long post, or a really breif explanation. I also alway wanted to try one of those really big .jpg tutorials. So I did. ![]()

I've always liked the big .jgp tutorials because you can save them to your hard drive and open them in photoshop along with whatever you are working on.
EDIT: changed from a link to an image for my sig.
EDIT 2: This is going to be my Tutorial post, so I'm editing in all my other tutorials.

Ok I have a "secret project" I would like to do beforefinishing the colored manga.
Anyways It's a website layout, and I have to make it look really cool, but it also needs to fit the theme.
Anyways I need to make block(the stone ones like on the side of a castle) being looked at at the front. I want to make them pop out a bit and look jagged. So I added som Noise to it but I can't make it pop out in a squre shape, Photoshop wants it circular. So I gotta make a ton of these blocks so they all pretty much look different. I want it to look somewhat realistic if possble, but I want more of that CGI feel to it, like it's still not completely real, but it's very realistic. Anyways, I'm making a Castle Stong Wall for at least one side, if not both so I'll need a little help figuring out what combos will make it "work" exactly.

I've made a signature with Kawasumi Mai from Kanon 2006. rather small, but I thought I should try the whole small sig thing.
Offline
No offence SHA but ever since your Arika sig everything you've posted looks like a variation of the same background.
Also you call that a small sig? This is a small sig:
![]()

Offline
Hardly, it's the same set of brushes not the same brush. There's a difference.
Usually my regular sigs are around 510x170 and that's pretty big, so doing 420x140 was pretty small compared to my usual.
All the brushes look the same on DeviantArt so I can't do anything about it.
So I fixed it and thanks for the help, DB! It was even pretty obvious to me that I was using a monotonous sig background.
Offline
thanks DB i saved that tutorial!

Much better siggy SH Archaeologist. It looks really neat.

Offline
this is my first real sig (by this i mean not just text and cropping on an existing one)
i think the font and the position of the letters is not the best.....
any opinions in general?
possible spoiler

It's not bad, but add spoiler tags, and only post a link to it.
It seems a little too dark.
Not bad for your first try.
Offline
here is another try
possible spoiler (but i believe anyone who doesn't know what has happened won't understand anything...)

It can be a lot better, but its good for your first one. Here is my fist one, rofl, the render is from an episode (217 i believe)
*slight spoiler* http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c375/ … fy_sig.jpg
Then i editited it to this http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c375/ … y_sig2.jpg
Then finally this http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c375/ … y_sig4.jpg
Don't worry you'll get how to make great sigs, just look how much better i have gotten. BTW you should compete in the sig contetest.
Offline
If you compete in the contest, it'll help with increasing your skill. They'll tell you how to improve and all.
Offline
Okay... here's my second try at a sig... be gentle
redone on the next page.
I think it looks neat...
